Alright. I’ll explain these vividly.

  • By knowing the domain age and length of the website

The age of a domain means how long a domain has been in existence.
Generally, top recognized websites like investopedia.com will not advertise fake Investments.

Why?

Because investopedia is a well known website that has been in existence for years and had been known for its legitimacy.

If you check it’s domain age, you will find out that it has been in existence for a long time.

Apart from domain age, there is something known as domain length.

This is the number of years the registrar paid for during the Registration of the domain.

Most fake Investment websites will pay for only a year or two. while the legit websites will pay for upto 10 years because they wish to stay up and running for a very long period.

How to find out the domain age and length of a website
Google “Whois Name of website“.
For instance, if you want to know the domain age of oneconnect. Google “Whoise oneconnect.com.ng”

you will see these details.

  • By knowing the owner / registrar of the domain name or website

I believe you don’t just give your money to any stranger to keep for you.

Or you don’t just give a stranger your money to help you deposit into your bank account.

You need to know the person or people behind any Investment. If it is unknown, them it is clearly fake.

  • Also by checking if the website is secured with SSL

What is SSL?

SSL means secure socket layer.

How do you know if a site has SSL or not?

Whenever you open a site on chrome, you see green padlock at the top left corner of your screen as shown below.

SSL

This means that the site is secured, that is, your personal password collected during login or registration cannot be seen.

But not withstanding, some websites can have this SSL but they are still fake.
Having an SSL certificate on a website costs only a few bucks so anybody can have it.
